A lifelong Texan, Dr. Richard D. Hulme grew up in Houston and always knew he wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. His journey took him briefly out of state to Brigham Young University for his undergraduate studies, but Texas called him back. He returned to San Antonio to complete seven years of intensive dental and orthodontic training at one of the nation’s top dental schools.
As the Chief Resident of his orthodontic program, Dr. Hulme demonstrated both exceptional skill and leadership. More than just a highly trained orthodontist, he is known for his friendly, approachable nature and the genuine care he shows for every patient. His goal is simple: to create confident, healthy smiles while making each patient feel like part of the family.

Dr. Hulme’s dedication to his field goes beyond patient care—he is an active member of numerous professional and research organizations that keep him at the forefront of orthodontic advancements. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, an honor that reflects his expertise, commitment to education, and dedication to delivering the highest standard of care.
Outside of the office, Dr. Hulme enjoys spending quality time with his family, traveling, serving in his church, and mentoring young people through the Boy Scouts (where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout). His love for music and sports also keeps him engaged and active in the community.

He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and a proud member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Southwestern Society of Orthodontists, Texas Association of Orthodontists, Alamo Orthodontic Study Club, and the San Antonio District Dental Society. His dedication to research and continued learning is reflected in his memberships with the American Association of Dental Research, International Association of Dental Research, and the Charles H. Tweed International Foundation for Orthodontic Education and Research. Additionally, he is an active member of the American Dental Association and the Texas Dental Association, further demonstrating his commitment to upholding the highest standards in patient care.
