Flexible Appointment Hours

During each appointment, every patient meets directly with one of our orthodontists. To make treatment convenient for parents and children alike, we are open before and after school hours, as well as on many school holidays. Because we respect your busy schedule, the average time spent in our waiting room before an appointment is just four minutes.

Focused Treatments

While other dentists offer orthodontic treatments in addition to their other dental services, our orthodontists are board-certified specialists who have seven years of specialty training and focus solely on orthodontics. As a result, they are able to create customized treatment plans. They can also care for the most complex cases that other practices do not have the training or technology to handle.

Free Initial Consultations

Many patients who are unhappy with their teeth are hesitant to schedule an orthodontic evaluation due to cost concerns. At Hulme Orthodontics in San Antonio, TX, we offer free initial consultations to all patients. During your complimentary consultation, our orthodontists can evaluate your teeth, inform you about your treatment options, and provide estimated orthodontic treatment costs.

Dr Hulme came highly recommended by both my dentist and dental hygienist. For almost 2 years now he has seen my daughter through a palate expander and braces. Dr Hulme is very knowledgeable, he's also very friendly, and he and his staff have been so flexible and understanding throughout this whole process. I'd definitely recommend him to others.

Orthodontist vs. Dentist

On the surface, the two doctors may seem to perform similar services, especially with more dentists offering Invisalign and other orthodontic treatments. However, receiving treatment from an orthodontist rather than a dentist has advantages:

Orthodontists Have Additional Training

Both an orthodontist and a dentist attend dental school after undergraduate school. However, an orthodontist receives two to three extra years of training through an orthodontic residency program.

More Customizable Solutions

Dentists may offer solutions for misaligned smiles, such as Invisalign or basic braces. However, the solutions are often not as customizable as an orthodontist can offer. An orthodontist can develop a treatment plan that works for your specific needs.

Broader Experience With Malocclusion

Orthodontists like Drs. Hulme and Ray deal with various orthodontic problems since they specialize in orthodontic treatment. This wide range of experience allows them to help patients with more complex dental problems.

Treating Adolescents and Adults

When orthodontic care begins early we can address issues early and help you avoid costly treatments down the line. Children can start receiving orthodontic care as early as eight years old, the typical age when they have several permanent teeth and their jaw reaches its maximum size.

However, braces and other orthodontic treatments are not just for adolescents. According to the American Association of Orthodontics

"1 out of every 5 orthodontic patients is an adult."
As specialists, Dr. Hulme and Dr. Ray have the tools and expertise necessary to handle almost any orthodontic issue, even those that are harder to treat in adults.

Staff

Backed by Advanced Technology

Our practice is proud to offer some of the most advanced technology in San Antonio, TX, and throughout the state. To provide patients with the very best care, we have invested in various pieces of technology, including:

  • Digital X-Rays: We use digital x-rays to scan your teeth and jaws prior to orthodontic treatment. Unlike traditional x-rays, digital x-rays can be viewed immediately and do not expose patients to harmful radiation.
  • iTero® Digital Impressions: Most dentists take impressions of your teeth using goopy, uncomfortable putty impressions. At our San Antonio orthodontics offices, we use the iTero Digital Impression System to gather digital impressions of your teeth with a small wand-like device.

We Make Orthodontic Care More Affordable

We can help you mix and match our available financing options to suit your needs. Insurance can cover part or all of the cost of receiving orthodontic care from our practice, but the amount covered depends on your insurance plan. You can also break up payments into affordable monthly installments with CareCredit or receive discounts through Medicaid.

We also accept:

MasterCard, VISA, American Express, Discover Network logos
